The UFC Seattle featured preliminary card fight on Saturday found former RIZIN and Bellator lightweight standout Tofiq Musayev taking on Ignacio Bahamondes.
Musayev had faltered in his UFC debut; Chile’s Bahamondes was looking to rebound from a loss to Rafael Fiziev in a fight he had been performing well in up until the finish.
The opening five minutes saw Bahamondes as the aggressor, walking down Musayev behind a solid jab and kicks to the body and head. Musayev loaded up on big counter shots but nothing landed clean. A back and forth first round probably went to Bahamondes due to forward pressure.
That same pressure continued in round two, with Bahamondes landing a big knockdown in the first thirty seconds. Musayev laid flat on his back taking big punishment against the cage, but was able to survive. Musayev was able to land a takedown and opened a massive cut on the head of Bahamondes. Threatening an armbar Bahamondes almost secured a submission win, but he was in bad trouble due to the amount of blood he was losing. Heavy hammerfists from Musayev rained down on Bahmondes in a high paced fight between two finishers.
After doctors took a close look a Bahamondes in between rounds, it was determined he could continue. In the third Bahamondes came out fast but ran into a spinning elbow that forced him to retreat. A left hook followed by a takedown near the fence saw Musayev jump out to an early lead. Musayev was able to stay in top until near the minute mark in the round. Bahamondes reversed position ending up in back control with thirty seconds left. A crazy back and forth contest between two entertaining lightweights left the Seattle fans on their feet.
The judges scored the fight unanimously for Tofiq Musayev who earned his first victory in the UFC with the win. In quite the memorable bloodbath no less.
Official Result: Tofiq Musayev def. Ignacio Bahamondes by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
