Former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will look to bounce back from consecutive losses when he returns to action this June.

Muhammad (24-5, 1NC) will take on Gabriel Bonfim (19-1) in the main event of UFC Vegas 118 on June 6, 2026. The card takes place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC officials including CEO and President Dana White announced the booking on Thursday.

After losing his title to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 in Montreal last May, Muhammad returned in October, dropping a decision to Ian Machado Garry.

Having defeated Vicente Luque, Sean Bready, and Gilbert Burns on route to a title fight in 2024, Muhammad defeated Leon Edwards to claim gold, but was one and done as champ.

At 37, the odds are stacked against Muhammad when it comes to a return to the top, unless he gets back on track immediately. He’ll have that chance against Bonfim, who rides a four-fight win streak including victories over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Randy Brown.

Brazil’s Bonfim entered the UFC in 2023 after winning on the Contender Series the previous year. He ran up a 15-0 record before being finished by Nicolas Dalby at home in Brazil in November 2023, the first and only loss of Bonfim’s career.

Muhammad holds the #4 spot in the UFC’s official welterweight rankings. Bonfim currently comes in at #10.

UFC Vegas 118 has not had any other fights reported or announced for it.
