It’s not the originally billed main event, but UFC Mexico City moves forward with former two-time flyweight champ and Mexican fighting star Brandon Moreno at the helm.
Instead of Asu Alamabayev out, Lone’er Kavanagh accepted the call to fill in on short notice. The English flyweight, 26, is just 9-1 as a pro and coming off a loss to Charles Johnson. Yet he remains a top prospect at 125lbs, and will have a chance to prove it come Saturday at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City, Mexico.
In the co-main event, Ecuador’s Chito Vera faced off against rising star David Martinez in a key bantamweight fight. Another Mexican up-and-comer, Daniel Zellhuber, was paired up with veteran King Green.
