Tallison Teixeira will step into hostile territory on Saturday night when he faces fan favorite Tai Tuivasa at UFC 325, a matchup that places the rising heavyweight prospect squarely in front of one of the sport’s loudest crowds.
Teixeira (8-1) draws a fan-friendly matchup against a heavy hitter like Tuivasa, a stylistic clash the Brazilian heavyweight believes plays directly into his game plan. With both fighters known for their power, the bout has all the makings of a crowd-pleasing slugfest.
“He’s a great striker. He’s going to come to exchange punches with me. Fits right into my game,” Teixeira told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.
“I expect all my opponents to be in the best shape. I expect my opponents to be in the best version of themselves. I can only worry about what I do, about me, I’m ready to go in and show my work in the octagon.”
Traveling from Brazil to Australia is a lengthy and often tedious journey, with more than 20 hours of flights that can easily drain a fighter’s energy before fight week even begins. Teixeira, however, voiced no complaints and said he’s feeling great, adding that he arrived with plenty of time to adjust and prepare.
“I have nothing to complain. I feel great,” he said.
“There’s nothing to complain. I’m ready to go.”
