UFC 324’s weigh-ins took a frightening turn on Friday when bantamweight Cameron Smotherman collapsed while walking off the scale, prompting immediate concern from officials and medical staff.
The incident ultimately led to his bout against Ricky Turcios being called off, casting a sudden cloud over the promotion’s first event on Paramount +.

Smotherman (12-6) was set to get back into the octagon for the first time since last June. The bantamweight was looking to snap a two-fight losing streak after dropping fights against Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simon.
The UFC has had its share of frightening weigh-in moments, but few have been as alarming as this one, with a fighter collapsing face-first on the scale stage. Smotherman remained down for several minutes, an eternity in real time, before officials carried him off and loaded him onto a stretcher.
Not long after the incident, UFC commentator Jon Anik announced that Smotherman’s fight against Turcios had been canceled.
Two other fighters missed weight by 2.5 pounds, capping off a shaky first UFC weigh-in of 2026. Flyweight Alex Perez came in at 128.5 pounds for his bout against Charles Johnson.
Former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo missed at 138.5
Both bouts are still expected to move forward as scheduled after Figueiredo and Perez were docked a percentage of their purses.
