Gable Steveson’s next chapter in combat sports will take him south of the border, as the Olympic gold medalist is set to compete for Mexico Fight League on Feb. 19.
The decorated wrestler’s move to the emerging promotion adds another intriguing twist to his post-Olympic career as he continues to prepare for an expected call up to the UFC.
Stevenson will face Hugo Lezama in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in the main event.
Stevenson (2-0) will face the most experienced opponent of his young pro career when he returns to action on Feb. 19. He made his debut at LFA 217, scoring a first-round TKO over Braden Peterson. The Olympic gold medalist has quickly emerged as one of the most watched heavyweight prospects since turning to MMA in 2025.
He then took a boxing match against Billy Swanson at Dirty Boxing 4 before returning to MMA and scoring a knockout win over Kevin Hein at Anthony Pettis FC 21 in November. The busy stretch has helped Steveson gain valuable rounds and experience as he continues to round out his game.
Lezama (11-3) has competed for Xtreme Kombat, Beat Down MMA, Budo Sento Championship, FFC, and several other regional promotions. Steveson will be the highest-profile opponent of his career to date.
The 37-year-old has a chance to make a name for himself against Steveson, who continues to build momentum as he pushes for a UFC contract or a call to Dana White’s Contender Series.
