UFC Qatar: Myktybek Orolbai Knocks Out Jack Hermansson As Both Fighters Change Weight Class

A welterweight matchup between two fighters either entering the division for the first time or returning to it at UFC Qatar had fight fans interested in this battle between Jack Hermansson and Myktybek Orolbai.

Hermansson (24-9) was recently knocked out at 185-pounds by Gregory Rodrigues, and was moving down in weight for this contest, making welterweight for the first time. Orolbai (14-2) was coming off a submission win against Tofiq Musayev, but moved up in weight from 155-pounds. He’d fought there as recently as 2023, when he defeated Uros Medic in Orolbai’s promotional debut.

The first round began with Orolbai looking to come out on the aggressive. Jack bounced up and down moving in and out of range while threatening a jab. Hermansson threw multiple kicks to the body and head, but Orolbai was the one dictating where the fight went. Hermansson defended a takedown circling away to other side of the cage. Orolbai landed a big right hand walking down Hermansson as he shelled up against the fence. Moments later, Orolbai landed a straight right hand behind the ear of Hermanssson that instantly dropped the former middleweight contender. Orolbai pounced landing another shot before the referee stopped the fight.

Coming in at near his natural weight Orolbai looked tremendous, earning a knockout against a much larger opponent. Fighting out of team Alpha Male, Orolbai recieves top of the line coaching from UFC Hall of Famer Uriah Faber and improved his record to 16-2 with this very impressive performance.
