Fatima Kline delivered the breakthrough performance she’d been chasing on Saturday night, outclassing veteran Angela Hill at UFC 322 to claim the biggest win of her young career.
Against one of the division’s most seasoned and respected names, Kline proved she’s not just a prospect, she’s a problem.
“Personally, I’m always a finisher, I’m always looking for finishes. So I am a little disappointed in that. I’d love to go back and rewatch it. I think my performance was very dominant,” Kline told reporters including Cageside Press at her post-fight scrum.
“I expect more from myself. I am excited to be able to take this win in New York City and move forward. Fighting Angela and fighting her the way I did is going to greatly prepare me for what’s ahead.”
Kline (9-1) already competing in her fourth UFC bout at just 25 years old is impressive in itself. It’s even wilder to consider that she was only 14 when Angela Hill made her promotional debut.
“Oh my God that’s is so crazy. I didn’t know that. I feel like my jiu-jitsu career really prepared me for a moment like this. I was 14 fighting people that were like 30, and sometimes i’d win and sometimes I lost. I’d always go back to the drawing board and reevaluate and see where I can get better,” she said.
“I can’t wait for a moment like that. I always like look ahead and I’m like man I hope I fight somebody like me one day so I can get a taste of my own medicine. Until then I plan on finishing everybody in my way.”
