The action at UFC 322, sadly, was not entirely inside the cage.

At the top of the UFC 322 Pay-Per-View broadcast, a brawl broke out near press row, with Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Dillon Danis among the names involved.

Danis, a current champ in MMA with the Misfits promotion, is no stranger to brawls, having been involved in the notorious UFC 229 brawl, which saw then-lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov jump out of the octagon to attack the BJJ star and occasional teammate of Conor McGregor.

During Saturday’s melee at Madison Square Garden, Danis could be seen being hit in the back of the head, and came out of the melee holding a shoe. UFC exec Hunter Campbell, defacto second in command to Dana White, could be seen ushering Abubakar Nurmagomedov away from the chaos as the fighters were separated by law enforcement.

Danis was reportedly removed from the building. Nurmagomedov is part of Islam Makhachev’s team, but not currently under contract with the UFC.

Multiple angles of the encounter have been making the rounds on social media since the incident transpired.

Danis is currently expected to fight former Bellator MMA athlete Anthony Taylor under the Misfits banner, in what will be his first title defense.

Despite years having passed between 2018’s UFC 229 incident and now, it appears there’s still plenty of bad blood between Danis and Team Khabib.
