Undefeated welterweight prospect Michael Morales faces the biggest test of his career this Saturday at UFC 322, taking on grappling specialist Sean Brady in a crucial matchup at Madison Square Garden.
Morales (18-0) scoffed at Brady’s claim that no one wanted to fight him. The undefeated Ecuadorian said he’d known for some time that the matchup was coming, it just took Brady a while to make it official.
“I was in the same spot. I had trouble finding an opponent, but I’ve known for a while that I was going to fight him. The fight has been talked about for a while now, but he hadn’t signed the contract,” Morales said.
“They had me waiting for him to agree to the fight, but he took his time. So he can’t say nobody wanted to fight him because I’ve known for a long time. I was always ready.”
Despite Brady’s reputation as a strong grappler, Morales isn’t treating this fight any differently. The undefeated welterweight believes his preparation and evolution as a fighter will once again make the difference on fight night.
“Nothing different from the others. He bleeds just like the and he gets tired just like them. I’ve always been well prepared for my fights and this one is no different. In each camp I’ve evolved and grown more. Each fight, for me, it’s constant evolution, and I’ve shown it,” he said.
“I always get a Jiu-Jitsu guy, or a wrestler, or whatever and I prepare just the same for all areas, and I’m ready for anything he wants to do. I just want to finish the fight quickly.”
