Former title challenge Manon Fiorot and Canadian standout Jasmine Jasudavicius collided in a pivotal flyweight matchup on Saturday night at UFC Vancouver, with serious divisional stakes on the line.

Fiorot (12-2) came into the fight off a loss in her first title fight against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 315. The loss snapped a 7-fight UFC win streak with victories over names such as Mayra Bueno Silva, Rose Namajunas and Erin Blanchfield. A victory over Jasudavicius could mean a quick return to the title picture.

Jasudavicius (14-3) was fighting on home soil, aiming to shock the division and steal that momentum in front of a roaring Canadian crowd at Rogers Arena. The #5 ranked flyweight boasted a 5-fight win streak coming into the bout with victories over the likes of Fatima Kline, Bueno Silva, and Jessica Andrade.

Round 1 – Fiorot immediately established her range behind a sharp jab, preventing Jasudavicius from closing the distance. The former title challenger pumped out the jab repeatedly, dictating the early pace.

Jasudavicius struggled to cut off the cage, and a clean right hand from Fiorot rocked her badly. Fiorot swarmed with a barrage of strikes on the ground, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

Jasudavicius protested the stoppage, questioning the referee’s decision, while Fiorot celebrated with her corner.

However, replays confirmed that Fiorot had clearly earned the TKO victory on Saturday night.
