Bantamweights Charles Jourdain and Davey Grant find themselves promoted to the main card at Saturday’s UFC Vancouver.
While no fights had fallen off, it seemed more like the UFC had opted to run with Canadian talent Jourdain’s popularity, or recognized that the fight was a potential banger.
The action kicked off with Grant immediately establishing control of the cage, while Jourdain kicked constantly from the southpaw stance. Grant started to chop at the legs effectively, but was caught by a jumping straight left and forced backward. Both assumed their original position with Jourdain smashing kicks while Grant stalks.
While being forced back, Jourdain threw up a flying knee out of nowhere and dropped Grant instantly. Following up with ground and pound, Jourdain had the fight nearly finished but chose to lock up a guillotine on the surviving Grant, forcing a tap right after securing the choke.
Charles Jourdain moves to 2-0 at bantamweight and may have earned himself a ranked opponent with this massive win.
Official Result: Charles Jourdain def. Davey Grant via R1 Sub (RNC), 3:05
