DWCS Week 6’s Adam Livingston: The UFC Wants Me to Win

Coming off of back-to-back stoppage wins, Long Island’s Adam Livingston was not surprised he got the call. However, there was a little surprise when he saw the opponent that they offered. While Thomas Gantt had a record and resume that matches the type of fighter they offered, Livingston got a different vibe when he started watching the film.

“They need another exciting, lightweight, hard hitter, goes for knockouts type of guy, and I think that’s why they called me,” Livingston said. “They want me to win, and that’s why they put me up against Thomas Gantt, because they know what’s gonna happen.”

That’s not to say that he sees no skill in what Gantt can do, but he sees a much less complete fighter. Having started MMA much earlier in life, Adam “Bomb” believes he has all the advantages in this one.

“He’s going to be 34 in January. He’s about 10 years older than me. He’s been doing, what, MMA for about two years? He’s been, don’t get me wrong, an amazing wrestler, D1, whatever bullshit, all-American stuff he is, but this is not wrestling,” he said. “This is MMA, and I’ve been doing it for a long time. He’s been doing MMA since I was 16. He’s been doing MMA since he was 32. It’s harder to teach an old dog new tricks.”

As long as he can neutralize the wrestling or get back up, Livingston sees a massive advantage on the feet. According to him, there is only one way that can end.

“First round knockout, 100,000%,” Livingston declared. “And then I’m going to go up to Dana White and tell him what I want next.”

You can catch him trying to make good on that promise at Dana White’s Contender Series Week 6. That fight is this Tuesday on ESPN+ with the card beginning at 8pm EST.
