Noche UFC: Alexander Hernandez on Neck Ailment, “Sexy Fight” with Chandler

San Antonio, TX — With a fourth consecutive victory, this time care of a TKO of Carlos Diego Ferreira at Noche UFC, lightweight Alexander Hernandez is feeling the best he ever has.

Mostly.

“Yeah man it’s getting contagious. Yeah, it’s the best I’ve felt in my career. I feel pretty good,” Hernandez (18-8) told Cageside Press and other media outlets following the bout, before noting a “neck thing” that has been dogging him of late. “Two fights in 30 days, definitely feeling it pretty bad. It just shuts down my left arm, so I’ve got to adjust that. I really feel like I’ll be pretty unstoppable after that.”

That neck ailment could keep Hernandez from returning to action in December, which he mentioned during his in-cage interview after the win over Diego Ferreira. Though it might come down to the opponent being offered. “I don’t know. If it’s juicy enough I’ll jump on it. I’ll bite,” he admitted.

The scope of the win is “up there,” Hernandez later said, asked about where the victory over Brazilian vet Ferreira ranks. “I got a lot of respect for Diego. We shared space for a long time, both being in Texas, and he was in the UFC before I was of course. We kind of teased the idea of fighting early on. I’m  glad we didn’t fight right off the rip. I don’t know if I was ready when I first got in.”

“It’s up there though. It was an incredible win. All of my fights in the UFC have been pretty tough guys. So with all due respect, fighting him, I knew it wasn’t going to be anything new. I knew I’ve tested myself for durations, and even having the knockout power to get it done quick or go the distance, so I  knew I was ready for him. I knew we were going to beat him.”

After the fight, Hernandez called out Michael Chandler, and touched on that backstage as well. “That’s a sexy fight. I think it’s awesome. I think the fans would dig it. Similar structures, different styles, just an exciting name in the top 15.”
