Flyweights Jesus Santos Aguilar and Luis Gurule square off in San Antonio this Saturday at Noche UFC, each entering fresh from recent losses and in desperate need of momentum.

Aguilar (11-3), known for his relentless pace and no-nonsense ground game, seeks to bounce back after a decision loss to Rafael Estevam. The loss snapped a 3-fight win streak leaving the Ensenada, Mexico fighter hoping to start another run.

Gurule (10-1), who dropped his UFC debut against Ode Osbourne, looks to prove the hype was real and secure his first Octagon win.

Round 1 – Aguilar came out firing big shots, but that’s his usual attack. Gurule played defense for a bit, but kept eating calf kicks and combos. Gurule seemed to be waiting a bit too long allowing Aguilar to score on him and start taking the round.

Gurule’s left leg started to show damage from the calf kicks, but he continued to plot forward. He rushed Aguilar, forcing a cover up, before Aguilar fired back and took him down. The position lasted maybe 10 seconds as Gurule worked his way back to his feet.

At the end of the round Aguilar landed a knee up the middle.

Round 2 – Aguilar got right back to it putting hands on Gurule. Gurule worked the stabbing teep kicks to keep Aguilar away. Aguilar landed a very heavy calf kick to an already damaged right leg of Gurule’s.

Aguilar began to slow down a bit as he used a lot of energy looking for a first round finish. Statistically Aguilar had a very even distribution of strikes with Gurule focusing on head shots.

Aguilar seemed to almost take the round off for the most part until the last 2 mintues, but Gurule did score enough to possibly take the round.

Round 3 – Aguilar came out very aggressive with some very creative kicks and then dropped Gurule with a jab. He got in on a guillotine and then he jumped it trying to finish it, but fell off. Gurule fired off some ground and pound before Aguilar got to his feet and they went back to striking.

These two played you go, I go, for a while with both men landing on each other. Aguilar rushed Gurule with under a minute, and then his opponent got his turn.

The two traded flurries until the horn sounded sending the result to the judges.

Official Result: Jesus Aguilar def. Luis Gurule via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
