Hollywood, FL — Fighting at a 175lb contracted weight (which is how the fight was offered to him), welterweight Jean-Pierre St. Louis kicked off the PFL Hollywood card on Thursday, winning a decision over Tyler Ray— his second victory over a sometimes foe, sometimes training partner.
The fight’s profile, carried on ESPN+, was vastly different from their first meeting inside the cage 2017, at LFA 19. Still, despite the ease with which friends and family could tune in, “I looked at it like any other fight,” St. Louis (12-5) told media outlets including Cageside Press following the bout. “If me and him met in the parking lot and we had to fight, I’d do the exact same thing. This time is was just PFL, and I just brought it man.”
Appraising his performance, the fighter nicknamed “Too Much” told Cageside Press that “honestly I felt good about it.”
“I’ve been doing a lot of sports psychology work, and one of things you that notice with some of the best athletes in the world, they don’t get super tied to the outcome,” St. Louis explained. “They’re enjoying themselves, they’re kind of letting, what they say like ‘player two take over,’ and they’re just having fun. And that was one of the things that I wanted to do. Just go out there and have fun, show exactly what type of fighter I am, and show that there’s a new fighter here.”
“Maybe some people haven’t heard of me, but after tonight you guys will know who the f*ck I am, and you know what I bring when I go in there. Because Tyler’s no joke, and the showing that I just had shows exactly how good of a fighter I am.”
In 2026, St. Louis hopes to find himself in the PFL World Tournament. Thursday was his PFL debut, and he’s clearly hoping to stick around a major promotion and get paid.
“Hell yeah. Hell yeah I want to be in that tournament. I want to make some bread. I want to fight the best fighters in the world, I want to show them exactly who Jean-Pierre St. Louis is,” he exclaimed. “Bring me back. I’m just going to keep getting better.”
