Hollywood, FL — After becoming the first to defeat the formerly unbeaten Bellator alum Bryce Meredith, one of the PFL’s blue chip prospects, Lazaro Dayton (9-0-1) is hoping to land in next year’s World Tournament.
The Goat Shed fighter, who fought to a draw with Danny Sabatello last year, earned his first Professional Fighters League victory at PFL Hollywood when he dropped Meredith with a right hand.
The right hand wasn’t entirely unexpected, he told Cageside Press and other media outlets following the bout.
“As you can see in the trajectory of my career, I’ve had a good right hand for a while. It was just a matter of setting it up and timing it, and just letting it be there. Really no surprise that it was there.”
It had been a close fight prior to the finish, which came late in the third round. “I knew this was a tough opponent, so I went out there with the right mindset,” noted Dayton. “Even though sometimes I looked like I was down at times, I knew what I was doing to go get the finish in the third. Recovered, pretty much.”
Now, Lazaro Dayton is hoping for one more fight in 2025, followed by a spot in the PFL World Tournament next year.
“I would like to finish the year with one more fight. Hopefully PFL can give me another fight to close the year,” he stated. “Then next year I want to get in the tournament. Show people why I’m the best 35’er in the world. So next year, get in the tournament, finish the year with one more fight.”
