For winning the fight PFL lightweight Jakub Kaszuba wasn’t completely happy after defeating Sergio Cossio at the PFL World Tournament last Friday in Atlantic City.
Kaszuba (15-0) kept his undefeated record together. He had his opponent hurt early in the fight, but didn’t go in to try and get the finish. In the third round Kaszuba got hurt and the fight ended up going to a decision in his favor.
In hindsight Kaszuba believes not going for the finish was a mistake.
“Oh my god. Biggest mistake of my night, I paid for it in the third round, but you know that’s what it’s about right? I’m not happy with the third round,” Kaszuba told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“There’s a lesson learned and there’s no better lesson learned than one learned in pain.”
The knockdown is what haunts him as he could have finished the fight early on.
“That knockdown was a big thing. I got to learn that killer instinct when I hurt him. Instead of, with other guys I would just dominate with the wrestling, but that was actually my downfall here,” he said.
“And that’s ok. We’ll be better next time. We did what we needed to win, and not everything’s going to be beautiful. I’m pissed off, but that’s the point.”
