PFL featherweight Asael Adjoudj said he broke his foot during camp and had a staph infection the week before his victory over Yves Landu at the PFL World Tournament event in Atlantic City.
“It was a hard camp as well. I broke my foot during the camp. Got staph last week, but still made it,” Adjoudj told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“And won this fight.”
Adjoudj (10-1) scored his 10th consecutive victory on Friday night. Taking the decision over Landu was good, but Adjoudj had been aiming for something more decisive.
“I did a mistake. I wanted to do like in my last fight get the finish. Got a bit too optimistic with the guillotine, but happened. It was almost there so I’m happy with that,” he said.
Now with the win under his belt he hopes for a shot at the tournament in 2026. With a 10-fight win streak it’d be hard for PFL to deny him.
“Anything is next. I’m never turning down anything. Now I’m just going to rest a bit, and I think next year the goal will be to win the belt. Be in the tournament,” he said.
“Win fight after fight, get better, and if I can fight one more time before the end of the year that would be the goal. Then go for the world title next year.”
