It wasn’t what you would call a strong card before Amir Albazi was forced to withdraw from the event, but UFC Vegas 108 certainly took a blow just a week out from Fight Night.
The Apex-based card, the first in nearly two months, was to have featured Albazi facing Japanese standout Tatsuro Taira. Instead, with Albazi not medically cleared, Road to UFC 2 winner Hyun Sung Park stepped into the main event flyweight fight.
Names like Mateusz Rebecki (in the co-headliner against Chris Duncan at lightweight) and welterweight record holder Neil Magny also peppered the main card, but anyone outside of UFC die hard would be struggling to find familiar names come Saturday. On the plus side, talented up-and-comers Austin Bashi and Rinya Nakamura were among those set for action, making this perhaps a better event for prospect watchers.
