UFC welterweight Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos has been waiting for a shot at Neil Magny for a while now and he finally gets it at UFC Vegas 108 on Saturday night.
“This is a fight that’s been a long time coming. That’s why I accepted it on such short notice,” dos Santos told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.
“It’s something that should have happened a while ago. This is a fight that’s very interesting and should be a good one. Two veterans of the UFC and two people that just know their way around the octagon.”
Dos Santos (25-9-1) has been in the UFC since 2015 two years after Magny made his promotional debut. The opportunity to test his game against Magny’s was too good to pass up and really expected by the Brazilian.
“It’s a fight that was long time in the making. You know that sooner or later, specially in this division with a lot of talent, that you’re going to face each other. It’s a fight that we knew was going to happen,” he said.
“Happy to finally be facing a guy like him and represent my country, the people that have been around me, very happy to actually have this fight happen.”
