Conor McGregor’s Dublin-based pub, The Black Forge Inn, was the target of a suspected arson attack on Friday morning.
The UFC star opened the establishment in July of 2021 and has seen it become to a big part of the McGregor brand, but on Friday, the pub got just a little too hot. According to a report by the Irish Independent, flames were seen inside the venue and smoke was billowing out the door early in the morning. The Dublin Fire Brigade and gardaí (police) were called to the scene, with the incident believed to be criminal in nature.
A report of the fire was made sometime around 3AM local time. No arrests have been made.
“Using a high pressure hose reel, one fire engine dealt with the incident and no injuries were reported. The scene was handed over to gardaí,” a spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade said in a statement.
This is not the first time the Black Forge Inn has been the subject of an attack. An attempted petrol bomb detonation took place in 2022, only for the explosive to fizzle.
Later in the day, Conor McGregor posted a photo of the pub on social media, captioning it “unbeatable.” The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has had his eye on politics of late, suggesting he might run for the presidency in Ireland.
