Miami — Flyweight Su Mudaerji, known to fight fans as “The Tibetan Eagle,” snapped a three-fight losing streak with a split decision win over Mitch Raposo at UFC 314.
Mudaerji was desperately need of a win for obvious reasons, especially coming off of a knee injury that has helped stifle his activity. A busy fighter on the regional scene in China prior to arriving in the UFC, Mudaerji has only fought once per year since 2019.
Asked about the lack of activity and whether it might be holding back his career, the flyweight told Cageside Press and other media outlets at the Kaseya Center via translator that “I think it’s because of the knee injury I had, it’s been holding me back a little bit. Moving forward, I will be having more [fights] arranged in the future.”
The good news is, coming out of the fight with Raposo, Su Mudaerji (17-7) was feeling fine physically. “I didn’t really get injured in this fight, and I will come back to training very soon.”
He also spoke about the feeling of getting a much needed win, after last tasting victory against Zarrukh Adashev in 2021.
“The moment the referee held my hand in the air, it was exhilarating. I was so happy. But right now, the emotions kind of settled and I think I have still got more to improve in the future. I will reflect on it, and I come back stronger.”
