Jake Hadley did the twist on Friday night at the PFL 2 card in Orlando, FL. The twister, that is.

Hadley, a former UFC flyweight known as “White Kong,” was paired up with fellow UFC ex-pat Matheus Mattos at the event. The Brazilian was stepping in to replace Sarvarjon Khamidov on the card, which featured the bantamweight and women’s flyweight divisions in quarterfinal action in the PFL World Tournament.

While some might have been critical of Hadley looking past the fight— he had plenty to say about old rival Muhammad Mokaev during media day, expressing interest in a fight in Birmingham with the Dagestani-born Brit — the 28-year old came out of the bout with his star shining brighter than ever. In a tough match-up with an experienced foe, he pulled off a modified twister submission (a.k.a. the Scottish Twister) in the third round to claim a spot in the PFL World Tournament semifinals.

Not bad for a fighter signed by the PFL off a loss to bolster their bantamweight ranks. With Magomed Magomedov out of the tournament, Jake Hadley has gone from dark horse to one of the favorites to win the $500,000 U.S. in prize money that awaits the tournament champion. Leandro Higo, another favorite, headlines the PFL 2 card opposite tournament alternate Marcirley Alves.

Hadley improved to 12-4 with the win.
