Last week, it was Taila Santos dropping out of the PFL Tournament, and Magomed Umalatov missing weight, taking him out of a fight with Logan Storley. At this week’s PFL 2 in Orlando, Florida, it’s main event bantamweight Josh Rettinghouse who is off the card.
Rettinghouse’s removal from the card followed Thursday’s official weigh-in, a result of the fighter being denied medical clearance to compete. As it happens, his involvement in the fight was as a replacement for Magomed Magomedov, who withdrew from the tournament.
PFL officials announced the news on social media, revealing that a new main event had been set. Former Bellator star and LFA champ Leandro Higo (23-6), who was booked opposite Magomedov, then Rettinghouse, will now face tournament alternate Marcirley Alves.
Brazil’s Alves (12-4) had been scheduled to face Vilson Ndregjoni in a bantamweight alternate bout. Ndregjoni is now without a fight.
Alves enters the new-look 2025 PFL 2 main event off a loss on the Bellator Champions Series. He went 1-1 under the Bellator banner, and is a former Jungle Fight bantamweight champion in his native Brazil.
As for Higo, he sits on a two-fight win streak and is coming off a victory over Ireland’s James Gallagher.
PFL 2 takes place on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
