Joey Hart Hungry For Another Shot At The UFC

LFA welterweight Joey Hart is hungry to get another shot at the UFC, but first he has a tough test against Omoyele Gonzalez at LFA 206 on Friday night in Minnesota.

Hart (6-3) made an appearance on week 6 of the UFC prospect show losing a tough split-decision to Benjamin Bennett. The loss, while not fun, was still part of the overall experience and a taste of what life in the UFC would be like.

“It was awesome. Only good things to say about the experience, other than the result, I could have done without the loss,” Hart told Cageside Press.

“All the treatment from like getting picked up at the airport to just how professional all the weight cutting stuff was. Just everything. It couldn’t be more smooth. Getting to fight a high-level opponent like that. It didn’t go my way, but that’s about as close of a fight as you can have.”

Currently on a two-fight losing skid Hart and his team have done the work to make sure the mistakes made in those fights aren’t made again. Gonzalez may prove to be a tough out for Hart, but the young welterweight is ready for the challenge.

“He’s tough. He seems like a strong grappler. Well-rounded. I peeped his page and I seen he was training with Belal (Muhammad) the UFC champ in our division so that’s a big deal,” said Hart.

“He’s going to be well-prepared more than anything.”

Being part of a big LFA card at home in Minnesota is an opportunity for Hart to make a statement and get back to the big show once again. It’s a goal Hart has on his mind as he gets set to take advantage of the opportunity this Friday.

“Without a doubt. I feel like a big highlight reel knockout on this card could get me in a position where I could maybe get on the next season of the Contender series,” he said.

“Getting back there and getting it right this time that’s the biggest thing on my mind right now.”
