A big scrap in the flyweight division goes down at UFC 317 on June 28 in Las Vegas as Brandon Royval and Manel Kape will look to solidify their spot in the title contender picture.
First reported by Laerte Viana.
Royval (17-7) was supposed to face Kape in March, but withdrew due to concussion issues. He’s currently on a two-fight win streak following his title loss against Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 296 in 2023. He holds wins against fellow contenders Kai Kara-France and Brandon Moreno.
Kape (21-7) lost out on the first matchup against Royval, but took a TKO victory in a short-notice bout against Asu Almabayev in March. The flyweight holds victories over Bruno Silva, Felipe dos Santos, Ode Osbourne and Zhalgas Zhumagulov.
The fight holds plenty of weight in the flyweight division with Royval ranked #1 currently, and Kape not far behind at #6.
UFC 317 takes place in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile Arena on June 28.
The card as of now looks as follows:
- Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov
- Brandon Royval vs. Manel Kape
- Michael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber.
More fights are expected to be added to the card in the following weeks. No word as to what the main event will be as of this post.
