The UFC returns south of the border this Saturday for UFC Mexico City, headlined by former flyweight champ Brandon Moreno and contender Steve Erceg.
Moreno returned to the win column back in November at UFC Edmonton, defeating another rising flyweight in Amir Albazi. Now, the storyline is the Mexican’s struggles at home. The ex-champ has fought in Mexico City three times for the UFC, and has yet to win there, posting an 0-2-1 record in that span. The closest thing to a bright spot was a draw with Askar Askarov back in 2019.
Can Moreno flip the script this time around? Australia’s Steve Erceg will have something to say about that. A former title challenger, Erceg was unbeaten in the UFC before losing a title shot against Alexandre Pantoja. He then lost his follow-up bout when he was finished by Kai Kara-France.
Weigh-ins for UFC Mexico City take place Friday morning; full results can be found below.
