
Former Cage Warriors champion Jordan Vucenic made his second walk to the octagon at UFC London on Saturday, where he took on Scotland’s Chris Duncan.
Vucenic was looking to bounce back from a loss to Guram Kutateladze in his debut, while Duncan entered off a win over Bolaji Oki. As it turned out, however, Scotland’s Duncan would prove to be too much a problem.
Both fighters started out cautious in the opening minute. Duncan plotted forward and landed a massive right hand that send Vucenic tumbling to the ground. Duncan followed him to the ground and looked to secure a choke on top. Vucenic was able to get weather the storm and got the fight back to full guard. Duncan postured up landing a few damaging elbows, while Vucenic looked to return to the feet. Duncan was able to get back control against the fence, holding his opponent on the ground. Vucenic scrambled to his feet but was tossed back down by Duncan. This was a dominant round for Duncan who showcased his striking and grappling abilities in the opening frame.
Vucenic seemed dazed on the feet starting the opening round getting hit by a few shots without an answer in return. Duncan grabbed both of Vucenic’s legs securing a takedown in the opening minute. Vucenic returned to his feet and need something significant to turn the tide of this contest. After a few minutes on the feet, Vucenic shot for a takedown of his own but was unsuccessful. Duncan landed a good left hook to the head of Vucenic who attempted another takedown and immediately got into trouble. Duncan expertley secured a Guillotine choke and squeezed the life out of the English contender who was forced to tap. This was an breakout performance by Duncan earning the most impressive win of his young UFC career.
After this win Duncan improved his UFC record to 4-1 earning his second submission wins in a row. Chis called out fellow Lightweight Terrance McKinney in his post fight interview. Also giving credit to his camp American Top Team, Duncan praised former UFC great Thiago Alves for helping him with his striking.
