Alex Pereira has shot to the top of the UFC, with “Poatan” becoming one of the promotion’s biggest stars. At UFC 313, he puts his light heavyweight title on the line against Magomed Ankalaev, with the Dagestani the only thing standing in the way between Pereira and some dream match-ups.
Dricus Du Plessis (the UFC’s middleweight champ) and Jon Jones could be in the offing should Pereira dispatch Ankalaev this Saturday. Of course, that’s no easy feat: Magomed Ankalaev has not lost a fight since his promotional debut in 2018, when he was caught in a last-second (literally) arm-triangle choke by Paul Craig. Since then, it has been smooth sailing for Ankalaev, minus a disappointing draw with Jan Blachowicz back in 2022 for the title vacated by Jiri Prochazka.
For Magomed Ankalaev, UFC 313 represents the chance to put that outcome right. For Pereira, it’s further glory and bigger things for a champ that dominated 2024.
Weigh-ins for UFC 313 take place Friday morning in Las Vegas. Results are below.
