Striking while the iron is hot is the name of the game today as the UFC announced featherweights Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva are set to battle at UFC 314 on April 12 in Miami, FL.
Mitchell (17-2) makes his return to the octagon coming off a TKO victory over Kron Gracie at UFC 310 in December. Mitchell had an amazing start to his UFC career putting together six consecutive victories before running into eventual champion Ilia Topuria at UFC 282. He returned nearly a year later to earn a win over Dan Ige before Josh Emmett scored one of the scariest knockouts in UFC history against him at UFC 296.
Perhaps more notable is the recent controversy with the featherweight. On the very first episode of his podcast, Arkansanity, Mitchell make comments calling Adolf Hitler “a good guy”.
Silva (15-2) makes a quick turnaround coming off a first round TKO victory over Melsik Baghdasaryan at UFC Seattle just a week ago. The victory kept Silva’s undefeated UFC run intact.
The two have sparred online recently with Mitchell taking issue with Silva’s “Lord” nickname. The Brazilian laughed it off saying he would be fine fighting Mitchell and he would “beat you until you see the earth is round.” Mitchell has been on record saying he believes the Earth is flat.
