Alonzo Menifield: “I’d die for this. I f*cking mean it”

Seattle – UFC light heavyweight Alonzo Menifield felt the pressure of a two-fight losing streak going into UFC Seattle, and he turned in a winning performance against Julius Walker on Saturday night.

“Given the time frame on that one…dude was tough,” Menifield told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.

“I’m excited, I’m happy, thrilled. A lot of weight’s off my shoulder.”

Menifield (16-5-1) came into the fight having been finished by Azamat Murzakanov and Carlos Ulberg respectively. No fighter wants a three-fight skid.

“Yeah lot of pressure given that situation. It was stressful. Lot of stress on me, and just being in there fighting, determined, saying to myself ‘hey you got this’. Giving glory to God. Just trying to relieve that pressure, and I did it,” he said.

Menifield leaned on his experience advantage against the UFC newcomer and it paid off in the end.

“Having had experience in those battle I had previously, looking at Julius, I’m like hey man. You going to need a whole lot more than that. I was just ready man regardless of what he wanted to do. I was ready,” he said.

“Truth be told I’d die for this.”

He was serious.

“People like do you mean it,” he said.

“I f*cking mean it.”
