Sam Creasey has always been a guy who has found a way to stay busy. Whether on the regional scene, Cage Warriors, or now with Oktagon – he’s always had the fights on his plate for the year. However, due to some unfortunate boomking circumstances, we find ourselves nearly 10 months without a “Urai” fight.

The Oktagon flyweight champion was candid when asked about it – it hasn’t been fun.

“Frustrating, honestly. Like you said, I’m used to being out there fairly regularly. And it’s been a very, very difficult period of time. My patience on occasions has got the better of me in the past, and I’ve rebooked fights where I’ve taken injuries or illnesses far too quickly,” Creasey explained. “So I’ve just taken a little time to make sure that I’m ready and fit and healthy to get this one out of the way now.”

The weirdest part of that time away is that the focus hasn’t really changed. Shortly after winning the Oktagon flyweight belt, Beno Adamia made himself the clear number one contender. That’s given Creasey nearly half of a year to prepare for the Georgian contender.

“It has been a little strange, a little strange. Give us a little bit more time to have a look at him and that, but to be honest, I guess it’s similar into the past when looking at potential champions in the future or potential opponents in the future,” he said. “I’ve always got my eye on, okay, who’s the best guy? Yeah, who’s the top of the division at the minute? When do I get to fight him? How am I going to fight him sort of thing?”

Now with the bulk of the camp behind him, Creasey is ready to make good on all of that prep work. And he’s not just looking at Adamia, but looking to get busy against in 2025.

“I want to say I’ll finish him. He’s very tough. I expect it to probably go five rounds, but if there is an opportunity to finish, I’ll finish,” he said, adding his plans for what he’d like this year. “I have to be a little bit more careful now. I’m getting older. So let’s say we’ll have three fights this year. We’ll come through, no injuries, and my title retained.”

You can see his title defense against Beno Adamia as Oktagon 67’s main event. It airs on Oktagon.tv this Saturday with the card beginning at noon EST.
