The UFC has not been to Montreal in a decade, and Canadian middleweight Marc-Andre Barriault will be there when it finally arrives this May.
Quebec’s own Barriault (19-9, 1NC) will face Bruno Silva (23-12) at UFC 315 at the Bell Center in Montreal on May 10, 2025, a pairing first reported by SportsNet and confirmed by the UFC.
Hailing from Quebec City, the “PowerBar” finds himself in must-win territory, having lost his last three bouts. Barriault has not fought in Quebec since 2018, prior to his time with the UFC, and hasn’t competed in Montreal since the previous year, winning the TKO middleweight championship there at TKO 41.
Silva has been on an even worse run of late, losing his last four trips to the octagon. That includes setbacks against former middleweight champ Chris Weidman (who has since exited the company and joined the GFL), Shara Magomedov, and most recently, Ismail Naurdiev.
Following the loss to Naurdiev, Silva announced he was taking a break from fighting due to anxiety issues, which he referred to as an “anxiety crisis.”
No main event has been announced for UFC 315 as of yet. The following match-ups have been reported for the promotion’s return to Montreal:
- Brad Katona vs. Bekzat Almakhan
- Hailey Cowan vs. Nora Cornolle
- Alexa Grasso vs. Natália Silva
- Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Bruno Silva
