Edmen Shahbazyan Wants Gerald Meerschaert Rematch

Las Vegas – UFC middleweight Edmen Shahbazyan believes he’s not the same guy that fans saw getting the promotional push earlier in his career, and he hopes his victory over Dylan Budka at UFC Vegas 102 showed how much he’s improved.

“I believe in myself, my family believes in me, my coaches, training partners all believe in me,” Shahbazyan told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum on Saturday.

“Whatever you saw me in the beginning in the UFC yeah it was a great run, but I feel like I’m so much better now. I’m just going to keep getting better and better.”

Shahbazyan (14-5) avoided a second consecutive loss against Budka in his first fight of 2025. Having fought so early in the year gives him options.

“Probably like June. I want to get three to four fights this year,” he said. Then he added one small request.

“I would love to run my last loss back. I feel like I rushed in that fight and made a mistake after hurting him, I rushed, but I hope that fight happens. Hopefully in June.”

Gerald Meerschaert handed Shahbazyan a submission loss last August before being submitted himself just two months later but Reinier de Ridder.
