It looks like Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was serious about coming back after all.
“I just re-entered the testing pool so I have to be six months clean. Probably June or July we’ll make the comeback,” Cerrone told The Pacman Show.
“I promised the wife no matter what happens, no matter the outcome, two more and that’s it.”
Cerrone (36-17) hasn’t stepped into the octagon since losing at UFC 276 against Jim Miller in Las Vegas. Now just two years later the itch seems to have been too much to ignore.
The former welterweight contender raised eyebrows earlier this year when he mentioned a possible return to action. Ever since retirement Cerrone has been public about his use of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in retirement. His posts on social media, and sponsorships, showed the physical effect of the TRT.
“I mean, right now, all the good sh*t after the non-USADA approved sh*t, I feel like I’m f*cking 21 again,” Cerrone told MMA Junkie.
“You know what I’m saying? I’m telling you, guys, any of you fighters, when you’re done, go ahead and get on the TRT and put your wife in a bind because that’s when you’ll feel like an 18-year-old boy again.”
Now he has six months to be completely clean in hopes of reaching his goal of 50 UFC fights. It may even be in a different weight class.
“I think it’ll be (at 185),” he said.
Regardless of weight class it’s safe to say fans, and fighters, will be intrigued to see what Cerrone looks like in his potential return.
