Cub Swanson Could Be Tempted To Return For DooHo Choi Rematch

Tampa – UFC featherweight Cub Swanson told Michael Bisping in the octagon after his victory at UFC Tampa that it may have been his last walk to the octagon.

Or maybe not. Fans have been calling for a rematch with DooHo Choi and Swanson had to admit that one would interest him.

“That one’s possible. Although he looked amazing his last fight and it makes me want to sit back and relax a little bit, but I just know the fans would be ecstatic for that one,” Swanson told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.

“That one would be hard to say no to.”

Swanson (30-14) scored a third round KO of Billy Quarantillo in Tampa on Saturday night. Swanson had been pushing back against retirement talk in the lead up to the fight, but said it may have actually been the last one.

“It’s ultimately my decision and what I want to do,” he said.

“I had a little bit of a war (in this fight) but I was trying to be fast and loose and paint a picture and make it beautiful. Something I could be proud of, and if it was the last then I could say man I’m happy with that.”

Ultimately it is Swanson’s decision, but that doesn’t mean some negotiating with his wife won’t be in order. Swanson said in the cage he had told her this may be it for him.

“I’m always going to be temped (to come back). We’ll see how I heal up. I got three little kids that are getting a little bit older now, and definitely want my attention more. I got a bunch of fighters, my team Bloodline, the guys I manage and coach. I put a lot of effort into them,” he said.

“I honestly am more excited to be a coach at this point. I love the sport, and the nice thing about being on the other side of the cage is I don’t go home with lumps and bruises.”
