Las Vegas – UFC featherweight DooHo Choi took home a TKO victory over Nate Landwehr at UFC 310 on Saturday night.
Then he proceeded to call for a fight with a top 15 opponent who just happened to be fighting on the main card the same night.
“I believe that Bryce Mitchell is a very good fighter, and if me and Bryce goes up on the octagon I know that it’s going to be a banger for the fans,” Choi told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum through a translator.
“Before my military duty, in the old generation of featherweights, I ranked up to 11. After the Bryce Mitchell fight I know, and I believe, that I could make it up to the featherweight rankings after beating Bryce Mitchell.”
Choi (16-4-1) wanting a fight with one of the best at 145 pounds, and an aggressive one like Mitchell, makes sense coming off a fight with Landwehr.
“I do believe that Nate is a very aggressive fighter, and he did bring an aggressive type of striking strategy to the octagon,” he said.
“The problem with Nate was that the opponent was me. If any opponent strikes with me then they can’t have that aggressiveness throughout three to five rounds. I believe that’s why we went more to the wrestling other than striking all the way through three rounds.”
Short night at the office has Choi ready to get back into the octagon, but it depends on the opponent.
“If I could fight Bryce Mitchell it could be anytime.”
