“At the time his wife asked me if she can like film the footage of the sparring and I accepted it, but they didn’t ask me if they can release it or (not). And I wonder why they didn’t release the other part of the sparring,” Rakhmonov told Ariel Helwani through a translator on Tuesday.
“Ian Garry taps.”
With the two set to face off at UFC 310 Rakhmonov wouldn’t predict the outcome of the fight other than emphasizing the importance of winning.
“I don’t know. The most important for me is the win. Sparring is sparring, fighting’s different, and Ian Garry is a very tough opponent whose a good tactician. For me it doesn’t matter. Submission or the stoppage, for me it’s most important to win.”
“I could have fought for a title, I could have just waited for a title fight, but I wanted to fight. I wanted to stay active and I wanted to strengthen my position as the #1 contender. So I’m sure I’m fighting for the title after the win,” he said.
Shavkat Rakhmonov faces Ian Garry at UFC 310 which goes down this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
