PFL flyweight Dakota Ditcheva left the PFL 2024 Championships last Friday with a belt and a big check, but immediately after the fight questions arose about here future.
Could we see “Dangerous” Dakota Ditcheva in the UFC anytime soon?
It seems like seconds after she finished Taila Santos, first woman to do so in Santos’ career, fans took to social media with messages of possible UFC matchups in her future.
“I am locked up with PFL. I will definitely be fighting for PFL next year especially now after just won this title. That locks me in again,” Ditcheva told Ariel Helwani.
“I’ve got to defend it, and I’m not kind of planning on abandoning that belt just yet.”
Ditcheva (14-0) was well aware that the calls for her to move over to the UFC would come, but she also knew what would come behind that sentiment from fans.
“It would not end there. No one would be satisfied. The next thing is now ‘oh yeah but she won’t stand this long against Manon (Fiorot)’ or ‘she won’t stand against (Valentina) Shevchenko’ or ‘ would she beat her?’. I expected it,” she said.
With Ditcheva entering her prime she says she’s got plenty of time to make her way through PFL before figuring out her next move.
“I’m only 26 as well. I’ve got so much more to give to PFL and hopefully we’ll come up with a few good things next year,” she said.
“I don’t know what the situation is with whether you’ll see me fight in the tournament again or we’ll have some big fights. I don’t know, we’ll see, but I’m definitely with PFL.”
