After having his last half dozen fights for Bellator, Jeremy Kennedy finds himself in a position that a lot of fighters are in. He, like many others, are not positive about the direction of their 2025. While that serves as a factor of anxiety for many, Kennedy believes a win over former PFL champion Jesus Pinedo at the PFL Championships would open doors up for him.
“I’m excited for it because this win is going to open up a lot of doors for me. The options are endless,” Kennedy said. “With a lot of these guys coming over, nobody really knows where they’re going, what they’re doing, when the shows are, where the shows are.”
If given preference, Kennedy isn’t even sure which he’d like best. There are a number of options within the newly structured company, all of which appeal to him in different ways. The most important part to him at this stage of his career is just having those choices.
“For me, going over there and beating Pinedo – that give me options,” he said. “Possibly a title fight rematch with Pitbull or Pico, if that ends up happening. Or the tournament or another big super fight – it’s more of just opening a lot of doors for me.”
Of course, a win and a spectacular performance on Friday would help those things. And for him, it doesn’t matter if it’s a finish or not.
“I see me getting him out of there in the second or the third round – TKO or submission,” Kennedy said. “Honestly, I’m happy with a decision. I’m not one of those guys tht are bummed. If I can go out there and it’s a 30-27, all the judges pointing in one direction, I’m cool.”
You can catch Kennedy’s fight with 2023 PFL featherweight champion, Jesus Pinedo as part of the PFL Championship prelims. Those fights begin at 7am EST this Friday on ESPN+.
