Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is looking to fight in the octagon one more time in 2025.
Cruz (24-4) has not fought since 2022 when he fought Chito Vera in the main event of of UFC San Diego. He lost the fight via knockout, and Vera went onto fight Cory Sandhagen the following year.
Many thought Cruz would head off into retirement, and the long layoff may have supported that theory, but ‘The Dominator’ wants one more go.
“I’ll tell you, I think I got a last dance, I want one last dance in me. Just go out there and have fun, and when I say fun, I mean a fight to the bitter death and see what I have in me,” Cruz told TMZ.
“The fun comes months after that. That’s when it gets to set in and be like, ‘OK that was fun.’ But I’m ready to walk in the fire again and see what life and death really looks like. One more go at that would be a pleasure.”
Cruz wanted to make the walk in 2024, but n
“I wanted to get after it this year but it’s not looking like a matchup is getting negotiated exactly right the way that it is. There’s some guys out there that have looked really good. The whole division is stacked, so it’s been incredible to be a part of that division,” Cruz said.
“But probably early next year is what’s going to work and line up.”
Cruz did not mention a potential opponent when talking to TMZ.
