Stipe Miocic Looks To Make History With Third Title Reign

New York – Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic looks to make history by beating champion Jon Jones at UFC 309 on Saturday night.

Miocic (20-4) would become only the second man in UFC history to have three separate title reigns. He would join the likes of MMA legend Randy Couture should he emerge victorious against Jones. He beat Fabricio Werdum to become the champion the first time, then took the belt back from Daniel Cormier, and now gets the greatest of all time at MSG at UFC 309.

“Between all three of them they’re all wins. That’s all I really care about,” Miocic told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

“Maybe this one (would be the most special) I think because it’s the the Mecca, it’s Jon Jones, doesn’t get better than that or bigger.”

To get the title back for a third time would be amazing for Miocic regardless of the opponent.

“When you get that belt again it’s always nice. I have six of them. Can’t wait to get seven,” he said.

Jones took offense to Miocic calling him a ‘b*tch’ in the UFC 309 Countdown show. The current heavyweight champion posted to his Instagram story that Miocic would regret disrespecting him.

Miocic finds it funny that Jones is upset about the comments.

“He was literally telling everyone he was going to beat my ass. Did he not say that? Sorry,” he said.

“Talk sh*t about me. Alright whatever.”

With the press conference set for Thursday the two will come face to face for the first time as they get closer to their title fight on Saturday.

“I got no ill will towards the guy. We’re here to fight each other, beat the sh*t out of each other. I don’t know how he’s going to act,” he said.

It’s been rumored that both men could retire following the fight at UFC 309, and Miocic was asked about how he’d want to be remembered once he was done.

“Blue collar dude went out there and fought and beat ass,” he said.

“Was never given anything. Everything was earned. Normal blue collar dude loved to fight.”
