Zach Scroggin had drawn a tough first assignment in the UFC, on short notice no less, in the form of Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos at UFC Vegas 100.

To complicate matters, Scroggin, taking the biggest step up of his career, had missed weight during Friday’s official weigh-ins, one of two fighters to do so.

That wasn’t a great start to his UFC run, though the short-notice nature of the assignment might give him a little bit of breathing room. That said, things went from bad to worse once the would-be welterweight fight (now a 174lb catchweight) arrived on Saturday.

Round one got started and Zach Scroggin was looking to keep his opponent at bay, utilizing a number of low calf kicks. It didn’t keep Zaleski dos Santos away long, as he soon landed a leg kick that led to a right hand, dropping Scroggin! Brazil’s Zaleski dos Santos unloaded with ground n’ pound as Scroggin just covered up taking it. From there, it wasn’t long at all before the ref came in and saved him.

The full fight lasted a little over a minute, and saw Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos improve to 1-1-1 in his last three bouts.

Official Result: Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos def. Zach Scroggin by TKO (right hand to ground n’ pound), Round 1, 1:15
