ONE 169 has had some bumps in the road getting to the event, and another one hit during Thursday’s official weigh-ins.

Already having lost a featherweight Muay Thai title fight between Tawanchai and “Smokin'” Jo Nattawat due to injury, on Thursday, promotion officials announced that superstar Rodtang had missed weight. As a result, he’s been stripped of his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai championship.

Opponent Jacob Smith of the U.K., who made weight, will still be eligible to win the title. The bout, however, will technically be held at a 135.5lb catchweight.

Rodtang is arguably the highest-profile Muay Thai star on the ONE Championship roster, thanks in part to a crossover, mixed rules fight with Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in 2022 – though the Thai boxing specialist wound up choked out in the second round.

ONE 169 streams live on Amazon’s Prime Video platform on Friday, November 8, 2024. The card is headlined by a heavyweight MMA title fight, as triple-champ Anatoly Malykhin takes on the massive Ourmar Kane, popularly known as “Reug Reug.”

In other MMA action, former ONE bantamweight champ Adriano Moraes takes on Danny Kingad, competing for the first time since completing his trilogy with the aforementioned “Mighty Mouse.” And grappling star Kade Ruotolo looks to go 2-0 in MMA when he faces off with Ahmed Mujtaba.
