With Said Nurmagomedov out of the fight, Daniel Marcos has a new opponent for UFC Tampa in December.
Marcos (16-0, 1NC) will now face Adrian Yanez (17-5) in a bantamweight bout at the Fight Night event, booked for December 14 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
JT Lines from We Want Picks was first to report news of the booking. Yanez later confirmed the match-up on social media.
The booking is the latest step in a game of musical opponents. Nurmagomedov was supposed to fight Daniel Santos at UFC 308 earlier this month. With Santos pulling out, Nurmagomedov was shifted to UFC Tampa against another Daniel, in Daniel Marcos. Now it’s Nurmagomedov out, and Yanez in.
Hopefully, this booking sticks.
Still undefeated, Marcos in 3-0 in the UFC (outside of a No Contest that resulted from an unintentional low blow). He holds wins over Saimon Oliveira, John Castaneda, and Davey Grant.
Adrian Yanez snapped a two-fight win streak when he finished Vinicius Salvador this past May. He’s 6-2 in the company overall.
UFC Tampa is still in search of its main event. The card currently features the following reported bouts:
