The middleweight fight between Josh Fremd and Abdul Razak Alhassan scheduled for Saturday’s UFC Vegas 98 is off, with Fremd transported to hospital following weigh-ins.
Fremd missed weight for the fight during Friday morning’s official weigh in, while his opponent hit the mark. With Fremd coming in at 189, three pounds over the non-title limit for the fight, it still seemed as if the bout would move forward — until medical issues encountered by Fremd saw him pulled from the card, and the fight cancelled.
On social media, Fremd explained that “My fight tomorrow is off. I was taken to the hospital after weigh-ins. Massive apology to my opponent, the UFC, and my team. A lot of work and time was put into this camp, and I’m heartbroken.”
He signed off by saying “I will bounce back from this.”
This is Josh Fremd’s second time missing weight in the UFC. He also came in three pounds over ahead of his August 2023 win over Jamie “The Nightwolf” Pickett.
