“The Miner” is joining UFC 309, where Nikita Krylov will face fellow ranked light heavyweight Azamat Murzakanov.
The fight was officially announced for the November Pay-Per-View by UFC officials today, after previously having been reported by Vadim Tikhomirov.
Krylov (30-9), a former heavyweight and Fight Nights Global champ, is ranked #7 in the UFC’s 205lb division. Murzakanov (14-0) sits at #11 in the weight class.
Should Nikita Krylov come away with the victory, he could find himself in contention for a title shot. He’s won three straight fights, most recently submitting Ryan Spann via triangle choke. Prior to that, he notched back-to-back victories against former title challengers in Volkan Oezdemir and Alexander Gustafsson.
Like Krylov, Murzakanov has built up an impressive win streak in the UFC, earning victories in his past four bouts. Those happen to be his only UFC bouts – nor has he tasted defeat outside the promotion. Most recently, Murzakanov knocked out Alonzo Menifield.
