Las Vegas – UFC women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso can’t seem to get away from Valentina Shevchenko as the two look to complete the trilogy at Noche UFC on Saturday night.
“Competitive professional relationship. We’re both professional. We’re here to do our job, we love to compete, and we just found that fighting each other is really, really tough,” Grasso told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“It’s cool.”
Grasso (16-3-1) takes part in the second ever Noche UFC having fought on the first one in 2023. For Grasso it’s a special night made even more special by the UFC continuing to do Noche UFC in 2024.
“Last year was like the test. The first Noche UFC 100% Mexican graphics, fighters, environment, music. It was really good. The fights were amazing and I think that’s why we are doing this once again,” Grasso told Cageside Press.
“Now it’s a PPV. Now we have different location, different everything, everything is new. I just think it’s special. Any other country had the opportunity to have like a party for their Independence Day. This talks about how we fight, Mexican heart, always going forward. Trying every single minute to fight. It’s really cool.”
UFC CEO Dana White has been praising Mexican fighters for a very long time and Grasso has noticed the love from the promoter and the fans.
“I think that we’ve shown that we put together wars. We love to exchange, we love going forward, we love to be in combat,” she said in Spanish.
“It’s 5 minutes that inside the cage they feel like a lot, but outside it’s a different perspective. Of course it’s still a show and we have to do our best so the fans will feel what we’re feeling. It’s really cool that he said that about Mexicans.”
