UFC superstar Conor McGregor missed out on making his return to the octagon in 2024 due to injury, and CEO Dana White says fans won’t see ‘The Notorious’ until early 2025.

White told New York Post Sports that one of the top MMA stars of all time won’t be stepping until next year.

“Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025. He’s had so much time off, as far as the hunger, he’s a very wealthy guy,” White said.

“We’ll find out when he comes back, but he is definitely one of the big superstars of the sport that elevated the UFC all throughout Europe and other parts of the world. He’s been a big star and a great partner for us.”

McGregor (22-6) was set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but was forced to withdraw due to injury just days before the event. UFC light heavyweight Alex Pereira stepped up to headline the event against Jiri Prochazka in a rematch.

White had said before that McGregor would not fight in 2024 which triggered a response from the Irish star saying he wanted a date in December 2024. With the end of the year in sight and not much time to figure out a spot for McGregor it’s safe to say we won’t see him until next year.
